As the second newest addition to the Holland America cruise line fleet, this ship truly stands out for its exceptional cleanliness, cutting-edge amenities and entertainment options, including the exciting presence of the Rolling Stone Rock Room Band on board.

Nieuw Statendam Wheelchair Accessible Cabin Photos

While I’ve had the pleasure of staying in various room types on Holland America ships, my top recommendation is to opt for a Verandah room whenever possible. The ability to step out onto your private balcony and take in the ocean views is truly unparalleled. This time around, we were accommodated in a wheelchair-accessible room due to COVID-19 restrictions, which surprisingly ended up being quite spacious!

While my mom and I may not be orchestra enthusiasts, many passengers thoroughly enjoy these performances. The B. B. King’s Blues Club, in particular, is a personal favorite of ours, with its talented band consistently delivering memorable nights. For those who crave lively music and dancing, the Billboard Onboard and Rolling Stone Rock Room are sure to provide an entertaining evening.

My mom and I both agree that the Rolling Stone Rock Room is a highlight, making it well worth considering one of the newer Holland America ships like the Nieuw Statendam or Rotterdam for this unique entertainment experience.

Holland America Nieuw Statendam Review – Daytime Activities and Things to Do on the Ship

While Holland America cruise lines may not be known for their thrill-a-minute daytime entertainment options, there’s still plenty to keep you occupied. In fact, my recent Caribbean cruise on the Nieuw Statendam provided a wealth of activities to enjoy with family and friends. From wine tastings to pickleball tournaments, and even cooking shows, there was something for everyone.

One highlight was James Suckling’s Great Wines of the Pacific Northwest Wine Tasting, which offered a unique opportunity to sample 4-5 wines paired with appetizers. As a loyal Holland America guest, my mom and I were able to attend this event for free, making it an even more enjoyable experience. The Whisky Tasting Bar was another popular spot, featuring an impressive selection of whiskies. Of course, no Holland America cruise would be complete without some friendly competition.

The pickleball tournament on Deck 11 brought out the competitive spirit in my mom and me, and we had a blast playing with fellow passengers. For those looking for something more relaxing, the Art of Flower Arranging show was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. The Greenhouse Spa also hosted several daytime activities throughout the day, including cooking demonstrations, acupuncture sessions, and anti-aging workshops.

While some of these events did come with a fee or were aimed at selling specific products, they provided a great opportunity for passengers to learn new skills and indulge in some pampering. Lastly, the Art Studio offered a unique chance to tap into your creative side, complete with materials and instruction for $25. With so many activities to choose from, it’s no wonder that my mom and I had such an enjoyable time on our Holland America Nieuw Statendam cruise.

During our stay on board the Holland America Nieuw Statendam, we had the opportunity to capture a few more glimpses of what this stunning ship has to offer. One notable feature is the expansive Deck 3, where you can breathe in the fresh sea air and take in the breathtaking views of the ocean. We also stumbled upon the vibrant atmosphere on Deck 2 during Happy Hour, where guests gather to socialize and enjoy a refreshing drink.

Additionally, we were impressed by the immaculate and well-maintained public bathrooms, which added to the overall sense of comfort and elegance on board.

The Holland America Nieuw Statendam ship accommodates a maximum capacity of 2,666 passengers. However, during our recent sailing in February 2022, we were pleased to find that only around 800 guests were on board, offering a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere. As for the overall experience, I can confidently say that the Holland America Nieuw Statendam is an excellent choice for those seeking a premium cruise experience.
